Welcome to Rosenberg – a proud community full of rich history located just 30 minutes from downtown Houston! This site is intended to help act as a guide to resources about the many exciting things to see and do during your visit including area local lodging providers, attractions and events, and shopping and dining resources.
Whether you are planning to spend the day, a week, or a lifetime here, you have come to a community proud of its rich history dating back to 1883 when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway laid out a town site and named it after the company’s president, Henry Rosenberg. Rosenberg began as a shipping point on the Brazos River, and reached a boom in the late-18 and early 1900s as Railroads developed. It grew to become a center of commerce in the 1940s and 50s, and was knows as the “Hub of the Gulf Coast.” Today, Rosenberg is experiencing unprecedented growth in commercial and residential development while holding tight to its roots and charm.

Community involvement is one of the keys to the success of Lamar CISD. Whether it’s supporting students at athletic and cultural events, approving the construction of new schools, the many volunteers who help our teachers and students on a daily basis, the men and women serving on advisory committees or those supporting the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation with financial contributions, our community is what makes Lamar CISD a great place to raise a family.
Lamar CISD will always focus on putting students first. Our campuses are designed with smaller enrollments (high schools are designed for no more than 2,000 students) to provide more opportunities for students to assume leadership roles and participate in campus activities. Lamar CISD also has sixth-grade-only campuses (middle schools) which focus on the needs of pre-adolescents, providing a smooth transition to secondary schools.
